Jackson, Priaulx Honored By Big South
Presbyterian College outfielder Weston Jackson was named to the All-Big South second team on Monday, as the conference announced its annual award winners. Additionally, first baseman AJ Priaulx was named to the All-Academic team.
Jackson has put together a record-setting year in his final season for the Blue Hose. The native of Greer, S.C. leads the nation with a school-record 26 doubles to go with a team-high 10 home runs and 54 RBIs. He holds a .343 batting average on the season with a .619 slugging percentage, while totaling eight assists from the outfield on defense.
Jackson went 5-for-5 against The Citadel on March 19, tying the PC Division I single-game record for hits. He was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 team on May 5 for his play on the field in addition to his strong work in the classroom. He was one of just three players from South Carolina on the team and one of six from the Big South.
Priaulx is second on the team with 32 RBIs and five home runs this season to go along with his 3.78 grade point average. The biology major has been one of the team’s most productive players in conference games, recording a .314 batting average and 15 RBIs against league opponents. The sophomore has been error free on the year in his time playing first base.
PC opens play at the Big South Championship on Tuesday night against No. 4 seeded Gardner-Webb.
