Presbyterian College senior defensive back Ed Britt will participate in the fourth annual Dream Bowl on Monday, Jan. 18, at noon in Virginia Beach, Va.
Activities for the student-athletes begin on Thursday, January 14, and continue throughout Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend with the game being played on MLK Day and televised by the American Sports Network.
Britt was a first-team All-Big South selection in 2015 and was named to the CFPA Defensive Back Award Watch List for his final season with the Blue Hose. He finished the season with a league-high-tying four interceptions, which ties the PC single-season record set by Justin Bethel in 2011.The senior also recorded 83 tackles on the year, finishing sixth in the Big South overall. He was the only player to rank in the top 10 in the Big South in both interceptions and tackles.
Britt was twice named the Big South Defensive Player of the Week this season, one of three defensive players in the league to earn the honor twice. The native of Greensboro, N.C. concluded his career tied with Bethel for the PC interception record with seven, while he ranked atop the PC career list for passes defended with 24.
The Dream Bowl is a college all-star game that was created to provide opportunities for FCS, Division II and Division III athletes to showcase their talents. The Dream Bowl will be played on Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend to honor Martin Luther King’s spirit and to recall his motto “I have a dream”.
