Opioid Abuse will be public hearing topic
STATE: House Opioid Study Committee to Hold Public Hearing in Greenville
Will receive testimony from invited speakers and welcomes public participation
Columbia – The House Opioid Abuse Prevention Study Committee that House Speaker Jay Lucas (District 65-Darlington) appointed in April will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, July 12, in Greenville.
WHO: The House Opioid Abuse Prevention Study Committee is tasked with developing recommendations identifying preventive measures and increasing treatment and recovery options to better protect South Carolinians from opioid abuse.
WHAT: The House Opioid Abuse Prevention Study Committee will hold a public hearing in Greenville, to hear public testimony regarding personal experiences and the impact of the opioid epidemic. After the invited guests have concluded, members of the public will also be given the opportunity to address the Study Committee (see additional information).*
WHEN: Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

*ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Members of the public who wish to provide testimony are welcome to attend and sign in upon arrival. If the two hour time limit expires before an individual has the opportunity to give his/her remarks, written testimony can be submitted for review.
