NATION: Congressional candidate challenges endorsement
ANDERSON (November 14) - Democratic Congressional Candidate, Mary Geren called on Representative Jeff Duncan (R-SC, Laurens County) to rescind his endorsement of Roy Moore, by asking, “When will Jeff Duncan put people before party?”
Representative Duncan made the endorsement of the Alabama Senate Candidate on 10/31/2017, prior to five women making allegations of sexual misconduct toward Roy Moore. Since his initial endorsement, Representative Duncan has remained silent on the issue, the challenger said in a statement.
“Under these circumstances,” Geren stated, “I would hope Congressman Duncan would at the very least recant his endorsement, pending further investigation.”
“Perhaps our Congressman is continuing his pattern of putting his blind allegiance to party above all else, even common sense and basic compassion for the alleged victims. Most of us would agree Duncan’s original praise of Moore as ‘a man of high principle and steadfast character’ does not appear to any longer be the case,” Geren continued.
