LETTER: Clinton's warm hospitality
Dear Civic Leaders and Residents of Clinton, Thanks for a great eclipse! My husband and I traveled from New York to see the eclipse with no real plan for where we were going to end up. We made the decision rather spontaneously and knew that our lack of planning would make trying to get into any of the events in the big cities difficult. So we looked at the map and found Clinton. We then went to your website and saw that there were plans for a great day. And it was a great day.
We found a spot, along with many others, along the rail line and close to the activities. We enjoyed the information, the music, the fun and most especially, the respect for the event that led the emcees to call for quiet during the totality. The merchants were friendly and efficient, especially given the crowds they were facing. The hospitality of the residents was warm and welcoming; an anonymous person walked up and down our little encampment offering free viewing glasses to visitors. And, of course, Mother Nature cooperated beautifully!
All in all, it was a once in a lifetime day and we were so lucky to spend it in your community. Thank you for the efforts so many in your community made to make this a truly special day.
