Editorial: Sandra Alexander
Sandra Alexander, the friendly face in the first office inside the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce offices, died last week. She put up a brave and inspiring fight, but cancer won.
Originally, she thought she had injured her back before doctors discovered the pain was caused by cancer. She was treated and looked like she had it beat.
She left her part-time chamber job to enjoy herself and her family. The cancer returned (if it had really ever left) and she began another battle. This fight was short and final.
Alexander is the mother of chamber CEO Greg Alexander, but no one publicly whined about nepotism when he hired his mother. She was a welcome and great addition to our county’s public face to small businesses and visitors.
She was always kind, quiet, smiling and nice. She will be greatly missed.
Our sympathy is offered to the entire Alexander family and to her chamber family.
