Hidden with no home, what we can do
The faith community of Laurens County is being recruited to start a Family Promise initiative to address family homelessness. Shelters exist for people escaping domestic violence and people who are battling addictions. A place for families to come when they've lost their house, however, is lacking in Laurens County. Activist and journalist David Moody made this video about a "hidden homeless" documentary he is making, and The Index-Journal newspaper in Greenwood recently wrote about "the hidden homeless" (link below).
The next Family Promise meeting for Laurens County will be Tuesday, Feb. 21, 7 pm at Broad Street United Methodist Church in Clinton. Anyone interested in this issue is welcome to attend (related article in the Jan. 25 issue of The Clinton Chronicle).
