VFW post is state winner
Post 5932 has All-State Commander, Quartermaster from 2015-16 convention
The McCoy, Fuller and Jenkins VFW Post 5932 brought several awards back from the 81st Annual State Convention.
The June 4-5 convention held in Columbia saw Post Commander George Boozer named a 2015-16 All-State Post Commander.
To be considered for an All-State Post Commander award, the commander must meet nine criteria, including attendance at all district meetings and having an active Post Veterans Service Officer. The post must participate in at least three of these service projects, Voice of Democracy, Patriots Pen, Teacher of the Year or Scout of the Year, and participate in all areas of the Community Service Reports.
Post Quartermaster Clyde Lindsay was named a 2015-16 All-State Post Quartermaster for the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Lindsay also received The Melvin L. Emore Award for the 2015-16 Most Outstanding District Quartermaster.
Lindsay was reelected District 4 Quartermaster for 2016-17. He also was appointed the Department Veterans and Military Support Chairman for 2016-17, by VFW State Commander William Havlin.
Post 5932 members are preparing for the National Convention to be held for the first time in the Carolinas. Beginning July 23, the national assembly of VFW posts will be in Charlotte.
Veterans who are honorably discharged, United States citizens and served in a hostile zone are eligible to join the VFW. The McCoy, Fuller and Jenkins Post is at 220 West Main St., Clinton.
The post is open for veterans fellowship each Friday evening, and participated along with its Auxiliary in a variety of community and veterans support activities throughout the year.
