Special recognitions - Monday night
The District 56 Board of Trustees will celebrate on Monday the district's recommended re-accreditation for 5 years by AdvancED. A review of the AdvancED visit to the school district will be part of the board's agenda for its regular monthly meeting, 7:30 pm in the Clinton High School auditorium.
The meeting is open to the public.
The review will come under the report by Superintendent Dr. David O'Shields. Leading off the meeting will be special recognitions for the:
--Culinary Competition Winners;
--Clinton High School Future Farmers of America;
--Clinton High School Youth in Government;
--Clinton Middle School Academic Team;
--Clinton High School Science Olympiad Team.
Fifteen minutes will be set aside of public comments (3 minutes per participant). People wishing to speak to the board must register prior to the meeting. The board will discuss its Targeted Focus Goal - review of the 2016-17 Draft District Strategic Plan, followed by O'Shields' report.
The report also will include commendation of principals and schools, Title I, recognition of Special Olympics/Special Programs, and YMCA/FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) community prayer breakfast recap. Administrative reports will include finance and operations/facilities. Action items will include first reading of two board policies, and second reading (final) of four board policies, approval of instructional materials, funds transfer from the general fund to the building fund, CHS Beta Club request for Nationals, change to May board meeting and executive session considerations.
Board members will be asked to update their calendars for April, May and June board meetings, along with 15 spring events (including April 4-8 Spring Break).
The board will have a walk-through at the new baseball/softball complex being built at Clinton High School; the walk-through starts at 5:30 pm. The board will convene an executive session (personnel, contracts, discipline) at 6:15 at CHS.
