Police respond to apartments w-UPDATE


This morning (March 14), the Clinton Police Department responded to apartments on North Broad Street.

Two adults were found to be on the verge of overdosing on drugs. Two children were taken into protective custody. At least one person was transported by the Laurens County Emergency Medical Service.

The matter was investigated.



Child Neglect of 2-Month-Old Babies

A Clinton man and woman are charged with Neglect of their twin two-month-old children, accused of drug use around the babies and poor living conditions in the apartment yesterday. Clinton Police served warrants charging two counts of Unlawful Neglect of Children on 45-year-old Daniel Mitchell Moore and 30-year-old Melissa Ann “Missy” Boyce, both of Apartment 4 at 505 North Broad Street, Clinton.

Sgt. Wilkes states that on March 14th Mr. Moore and Ms. Boyce committed unlawful conduct toward their two, two-month-old children by having their apartment in complete disarray with trash throughout, with open pill bottles and pills on the counter and floor, with electric cords throughout and with the bathroom sink and shower full of dirt and trash. They were allegedly using methamphetamine around the two infants and intoxicated on meth at the time of a welfare check yesterday.

Melissa “Missy” Boyce was booked and being held overnight, awaiting a bond hearing. Daniel Moore was being held overnight, awaiting his booking in the Johnson Detention Center.
