Our brand is in the works

Ahead of growth, Laurens County needs an identity to attract more people to live here & visit, administrator says
Laurens County is on the verge of rapid growth. This branding initiative is one part of a strategic effort to plan ahead for that growth." - Laurens County Administrator Jon Caime

Laurens County has contracted with the South Carolina National Heritage Corridor (SCNHC) team to develop a branding package for the county.

This branding project was approved by Laurens County Council in December of 2016. The SCNHC team has since met with both local and county government officials and toured the county.

The end result of the project will include a new logo, but according to SCNHC President and CEO Michelle McCollum, the whole package includes recommendations for how to implement the brand and will ultimately assist in attracting tourism and spur economic development in Laurens County.

“A logo without a plan is just a pretty design. Laurens County has so many unique assets in from the rivers to beautiful rural landscapes, small town charm, and history. A successful brand and plan moving forward will communicate why Laurens County is so special to future tourists, residents, and potential businesses from welcome signs off the interstate to social media,” noted McCollum.

The new brand will be created with the help of community input via online survey, which can be accessed at the official website for http://laurenscounty.us/poll/

"Laurens County is on the verge of rapid growth,” stated Laurens County Administrator Jon Caime. “This branding initiative is one part of a strategic effort to plan ahead for that growth. The goal of this initiative is to help the Laurens County community decide on a united identity that can both bring the various individual communities together under one Laurens County identity as well as guide us to the future we desire. To do this in an authentic way, it is important that that those interested in the future of Laurens County voice their opinion on what our identity or brand should be."

The South Carolina National Heritage Corridor is a non-profit National Heritage Area program of the National Parks Service that aids in preserving, promoting, and preserving the cultural, natural, and historic resources of South Carolina. Though the SCNHC covers a 17-county area that does not include Laurens County, they recently launched a statewide marketing assistance program. WHAT IS REVEAL SC? It’s a new way of doing business in South Carolina. The old way of preserving, protecting and promoting our great state is just that…old. We know there’s a better way to work with communities, partners, destinations and businesses to discover and “reveal” what makes them special and unique. And because we travel the state researching, discovering and creating great places, we can also provide some really amazing information to travelers (we actually like the word “explorers”). We know South Carolina like the backs of our hands so we feel it’s our mission, no our duty, to “REVEAL” all of the things we find so awesome about our state. If you’re an explorer, check out our travel information. If you’re a community, partner, destination or business, contact us; we’d love to help!
