JUST NOW: PC School of Pharm hot spot

Clinton DPS responds to smoke detectors, "hot spot"

Clinton Department of Public Safety firefighters have responded to smoke and a "hot spot" on the 2nd floor of Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy.

The building on North Main St. in Clinton was evacuated. Mostly staff was on-site, as graduation for Presbyterian College was May 13-14. No injuries were reported.

Contractors are working on the roof, on HVAC and roofing, and they left the roof via ladders as the smoke was reported. Clinton DPS and Joanna Fire Department crews worked the scene, along with Clinton police and Presbyterian College personnel. Reportedly, smoke was confined to the 2nd floor near a lab. The motor on an outside roof air conditioner burned up, and smoke - which later dissipated - was drawn into the building.
