Industry discussion tops council agenda

Laurens County Council meeting Tuesday will begin with closed session about economic development

Laurens County Council will convene its meeting Tuesday evening, and then close the meeting for an economic development discussion. The project to be discussed is not specified on the council's agenda.

After returning to open session - the SC Freedom of Information Act says all votes must be conducted in open session - council will hear a report from County Administrator Jon Caime. Council will have a public hearing and final approval for the FILOT (fee in lieu of taxes) with Yanfeng US Automotive Interior Systems I LLC, and will have final reading of a FILOT with CRI Tolling LLC.

Council will present a resolution of commendation to Dr. Billy Strickland, retired superintendent of District 55, will authorize an Upper Savannah Council of Governments Workforce Development Agreement, will give first reading to a multi-county industrial park agreement on Octagon park and first reading of a MCIP agreement on Donaldson park (Greenville County). Council will consider a JAG Grant approval and an appointment to the GLEAMNS Human Resources Commission.

Council will hear public comments (15 minutes, register before the meeting) and council members' comments. Council will adjourn, take a short break and return for a budget session.

The budget session will require the council to change meeting sites. The regular meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers, second floor of the historic courthouse in downtown Laurens. The budget session will be in the conference room of the Hillcrest Square Administrative Office conference room.

Both sessions of the Laurens County Council - the regular meeting and the budget session - are open to the public.
