Clinton Museum is closing temporarily
The City of Clinton has temporarily closed the Clinton Museum to conduct a full inventory of the facility and perform some maintenance on the Historic Griffin House.
The Clinton Museum, located on North Broad Street, has been open to the public on Sundays for several years.
The museum relies on donations to fund operations, but does receive funding from the city to support capital improvements and maintenance of the Griffith House and to fund a part time employee to manage the museum.
“The city has no intention of permanently closing the museum, but we do need to conduct a full inventory of the items that the citizens have entrusted in our care, and the easiest way for us to do that effectively and correctly is to temporarily close the facility” said City Manager Frank Stovall.
Once the inventory is complete, the museum will reopen under its normal operating schedule.
