Alleged attempted murder
Authorities have charged a Clinton man in connection with a shooting in a city park.
Vito Jervorria Gaskins, 26, of 121 East Bluford St., was arrested and charged with attempted murder, a report said. The incident happened March 15 at Oak Street Park in Clinton.
Gaskins is accused of firing a gun into two cars and shooting a man, the report said. At the intersection of Oak and Centennial Streets, a 2008 Cadillac Deville was damaged by two bullets, and a 2005 Chrysler 300 was damaged by a bullet entering the passenger side rear door and a bullet hitting the truck lid, the report said. Gaskins was arrested Wednesday, and is being held at the Johnson Detention Center.
In addition to attempted murder, his charges include possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and two counts of malicious damage to property.
